Welcome to part 2 of Matt & Emily’s 1940s engagement session! You can view part 1 here.
For their second location, we decided to visit Pleasure Pier in Galveston, TX. I had been wanting to do a shoot like this for a long time—genuine vintage at a beach carnival…sigh…It just doesn’t get more thrilling than this for me. I’m so happy we didn’t end up being rained out, as the forecast suggested. Instead, we were able to enjoy a cool, 100%-cloud-covered afternoon.
I couldn’t help but let my girly side show as my mind kept drifting to the early carnival scenes in “The Notebook.” The 1940s attire, sparkling ferris wheel, and all the cotton candy we could eat just fed my giddy excitement. I don’t remember how many hours we were shooting; All I know is that we had plenty of daylight when we started, and didn’t finish until after dark. SO many people thought these two were professional models, and I don’t blame them. I couldn’t have asked for better subjects.
I could say more, but sometimes it’s just better to let the photos speak their thousands of words.
With joy, Lizard.
